Old Jail Bricks Suffer Severe Deterioration

When the Old Jail was opened to the film makers to be inspected as a possible site for several scenes in the Movie, "The Sheriff's Children," it was noticed that chunks of the bricks in the front of the building had pieces chipping off.  A masonry expert was asked to assess the entire building and he found several obviously damaged sections.  Below are several pictures of the damage to the building.  Below are several pictures showing the damage.  Look for further posts as the Historical Society makes decisions on the future of the building.
The damaged bricks need to be replaced and new mortar added to fill the gaps where the current bricks are still salvageable.  Once all the problems are corrected a sealant will be sprayed onto the surface to prevent moisture seeping into the bricks and mortar.
